Newlyweds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are following up on their Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding with an equally unusual honeymoon destination: the basement.

The pair, who are reportedly expecting their first child, are chilling out in an unspecified L.A.-area basement complete with blow-up palm trees and a tanning bed, Wentz told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Tuesday.

“We got some blow-up palm trees,” said Wentz, explaining that the couple wants to throw off the press. “A little fake-n-bake tanning booth. We’re eating DiGiorno’s pizza, getting in that tanning oven every once in a while — it’s great.”

The Fall Out Boy bassist confirmed that the couple has a prenup in place—but he was coy when asked if he and Ashlee have a baby on the way.

“Ryan, this baby has not been confirmed,” Wentz insisted. “The only thing I’m confirming now is that we’re in the basement on our honeymoon with these blow-up palm trees.”

Wentz also dodged questions about his new sister-in-law, Jessica Simpson, and her on-again, off-again beau Tony Romo.

The rocker added that his wedding to Simpson wasn’t a shot-gun ceremony: “It’s been something we’ve been planning for a long time. I gave her a promise ring four months ago.”

The American Idol showdown between David Cook and David Archuleta begins Tuesday night—and although it was no surprise the two Davids would face-off, at this point, it’s anybody’s game.

So which David will take home the title Wednesday night?

Excecutive producer Nigel Lythgoe is pleased with America’s decision thus far.

“It’s one of the strongest we’ll ever see. As Simon (Cowell) said, the finale will be a humdinger. I can tell you, for a fact, with the top three contestants, every one won a week. That’s very rare. Usually we have an out-and-out winner from day one. I think people (viewers) have changed alliances and recognized talent as it’s grown.”

When speaking about 17-year-old David Archuleta, Lythgoe says, “I’ve never heard as exquisite and melodic a singer.” He adds that Archuleta will only improve as he gets older.

But Cook, 25, of Blue Springs, Mo., is tough competition. The former bartender emerged a front-runner somewhere in the middle of the season, and has shown talent for picking songs that suit his edgy emo-rock sensibility.

“Cook’s got an enormous career ahead of him,” Lythgoe said. He’s also, ahem, ‘easy on the eyes.’”

After getting rid of what was perhaps the worst haircut in Idol history, the now-stylish singer has attracted countless female fans.

“Whoever wins on Idol will be as hugely successful” as previous contestants Underwood and Chris Daughtry, Lythgoe said.

One thing is for certain: Both Davids will win record contracts with Sony-BMG, which signs the show’s winners and popular runners-up.

A New York City college student sued actress Lindsay Lohan, claiming the Mean Girls star took her mink coat without permission and kept it for more than two weeks.

Masha Markova says in a lawsuit filed Monday that the 21-year-old Lohan took the $12,000 golden sheared mink coat while in the nightclub 1 Oak on Jan. 26.

The 22-year-old Markova’s lawyer, Merrill Cohen, says Lohan had been sitting next to her client. Cohen says Markova next saw her coat on Lohan in a photo in a magazine.

Cohen says she called Lohan’s people and demanded the coat. She says Markova got the coat back on Feb. 14.

Cohen says the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court, asks for unspecified damages.

Lohan’s lawyer, Blair Berk, said it would be inappropriate to comment on the case.

Katie Holmes will star in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on Broadway this fall.

The revival of a 1947 play also stars John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson.

Holmes, 29, will play the love interest of a missing WWII pilot.

The Dawson’s Creek alum will definitely be spending more time in New York City this fall. It’s not yet clear whether hubby Tom Cruise or daughter Suri will be joining her. 

Lance Armstrong and Kate Hudson hung out together this weekend in Austin, on the heels of the actress’ split from her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Owen Wilson.

The actress, 29, and the seven-time Tour de France winner, 36, were spotted together around town on both Friday and Saturday nights, according to People magazine.

The pair dined at Eddie V’s, a high-end restaurant frequented by Armstrong, and then at the more casual Hula Hut Saturday.

“They came in [Friday] and had dinner together, it’s true,” an insider from Eddie V’s tells the magazine.

The next night, Hudson and Armstrong chowed down at the Hula Hut with the athlete’s three children and a group of friends. “They came in with the kids and a large group of people,” says another restaurant source. “They ordered dinner – tacos, burgers and fries and that sort of stuff.”

Asked if the pair looked romantic, the source merely said, “They looked like they were having fun.”

Hudson and Armstrong were also in the same place on Thursday: Both were spotted in New York at the Wildwood Barbeque restaurant at the after party following Kid Rock’s Madison Square Garden concert.

Armstrong was most recently linked to Ashley Olsen.
