Ben Stiller, who’s fairly new to the world of Twitter himself, is trying to lure in a whole new generation of techies—Mickey Rooney.
Stiller sat down with the former (1920’s and ’30’s!) child star, to explain the phenomenon that is Twitter. Ben, 43 and Mickey, 89, may have a number of years between them, but the duo definitely agrees on one thing--those who over-tweet should not be trusted.

Glad Stiller didn’t try to make Rooney look like an idiot. I love Mickey Rooney, a legend.

I guess it all sums up to what Mickey said. “It is not wholesome”. I think twitter is what you used to hear over your shoulder, things that maybe you should have not hear. Only that now, that person saying it WANTS you to have you around, ready to listen. AND you want to be there, despite you will ‘hear’ unpleasant things.
Flashers and voyeurs.

“Don’t hit her, Twitter”
I believe this will be Twitter’s new slogan. Thank you Rooney.

If you want to see the awesomest movie ever, check out a Midsummer Night’s Dream with Mickey Rooney as Puck. It is surreal, and filled with fairies and a donkey and cobwebs and starcrossed lovers and all manner of mysterious things

Ben is getting pretty good. Not caught up with Stiller and Meara, but who expects miracles?
Mickey Rooney is, of course, a legend in his own time

Now that’s a movie!

Dear Ben.
Please write and direct another movie, Tropical Thunder was a work of genius. You have too much talent to be doing other people stuff.
It’s nice to see Mickey Rooney is still alive. Maybe you can hurry-up and write him into your next project before he finishes his bucket list.

What do Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen (eww), Jonah Hill (eww), & Bill Maher (eww) & Sarah Silverman HAVE IN COMMON?
Hint: There’re BLOOD brothers / sister with Adam Sandler, Larry King, Jerry Seinfeld & Jon Stewart a sampling of many. Give up? There’re ALL JEWISH.
Search for: An Empire of Their Own: How the Jews Invented Hollywood. The Jewish are SO prevalent in movies, TV, & the media because they invented it! COOL!
CHECK the cast of new & recent movies.

29 malikscifi92 • Aug 25, 2009 at 7:51 am
explaining Twitter to an old-timer like Mickey Rooney is like explaining the laws of physics to a 7-year-old
30 joeavella • Aug 25, 2009 at 9:27 am
this is an excellent idea. More of these please. I’d like to see you explain twitter to your parents!
31 URIBENFILM • Aug 25, 2009 at 9:43 am
I just fell in love with this video. MR: “people that say I know everything, walk away from them!”, That’s exactly what I did with my ex-wife. Priceless. Thanks you for posting. And, this whole twiter deal is just silly, MR is lovely.
32 xxD1st0rtEDxx • Aug 25, 2009 at 11:06 am
for once a star makes a youtube, and he actually uploads frequently! THANK YOU BEN!!!
33 Attmay • Aug 25, 2009 at 11:08 am
Wow. This is exactly like when I explain the latest technological updates to my grandparents.
But Mickey brings up an interesting point: it isn’t wholesome to say “my oldest daughter is shaving her legs”, and also nobody needs to know that, and nobody cares.
34 whiteberryphantom • Aug 25, 2009 at 11:18 am
what goes up must come down, whats so hard about that. yeah i know theres more to it

“I’m making a baloney and cheese sandwich and I’m adding extra hot mustard, details to come later”
41 Bronco46tube • Aug 25, 2009 at 11:32 pm
I couldn’t agree more Mickey. The internet has a lot to offer but twitter is not one of them. As has been said before about other things like this: It’s an opiate for the masses. Keep people busy and they won’t realize how they’re being screwed over in some many other ways. For instance look at your gross pay.
42 anerisgreat • Aug 26, 2009 at 10:09 am
Finally, a sane outlook on twitter!

I want to know Ben’s thoughts on the @EvilBenStiller!
Does he know he exists? If so, what does he think about his long-departed, evil twin brother? lol
45 Philinspaces • Aug 26, 2009 at 10:41 pm
Hey Mickey Rooney! Glad you’re still kicking. You have a point there.

Mickey still ROCKS! Its cool to bring senior citizens up to date on technology, good work, Ben. I’d like to here your father’s (Jerry) opinion on the same subject. I think he’d had a good opinion about it, just like Mickey.
51 quiktymevideo • Aug 28, 2009 at 10:15 am

54 ShaunRL • Aug 28, 2009 at 11:04 am
You would honestly like to hear ben stillers father’s opinion on twitter? and why did you put his name in brackets if your talking directly to him???
