Beyonce and Jay-Z recently topped Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s Most Powerful Couples, but that didn’t stop the newlyweds from making their wedding low-key.
To help keep the ceremony a secret, the mega couple opted to skip the caterers and hire mom Tina Knowles and Jay-Z’s grandmother to prepare a home-cooked meal.
“We cooked all the food. I cooked all my Creole stuff, and his grandmother cooked her oxtails,” Tina tells Giant magazine.
“My favorite part was when we put all of this home cooking on that fancy china. It was special,” she added.
The nuptials, which took place on April 4, did include some A-list details: 50,000 white orchids were flown in from Thailand for the party and Gwyneth Paltrow celebrated with the newlyweds.
