A Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner granted the actress’ request to take the last name of her partner Ellen DeGeneres during a hearing on Thursday. Neither Ellen or Portia attended.
She will now legally be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
Ellen shared her partner’s exciting news over Twitter writing:
“I just got some amazing news. The court has granted Portia’s name change. She’s now officially Portia Winfrey.”
