Heath Ledger’s legacy will live on yet again, and this time it will be in a music video.
A Modest Mouse video directed by the late Heath Ledger is set for release this year, the AP reports.
A spokeswoman for the Indie-rock band says Ledger created an animated video for King Rat, a track off the 2007 album “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.”
Modest Mouse frontman, Isaac Brock “is supporting the completion of the video in honor of Heath’s last piece of work as a director,” according to the band’s spokeswoman.
Ledger also directed a music video for a Ben Harper song prior to his death.

It seemed weird when Britney Spears was spotted vacationing in Costa Rica with Mel Gibson last May. The unlikely couple then continued their friendship and were spotted together in Beverly Hills through the beginning of the summer.
Now, Gibson has finally come clean. On Sunday night’s special edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor explained just what that bizarre relationship was all about.
“She’s a nice kid, ya know. She was just going through a rough patch. You see kids that you know in the industry… I just felt like this poor kid she’s lining up to be stoned. I just thought, ‘I wonder if anyone is reaching out to her,’ so I just called her and she’s doing great now.”
Mel credited Spears’ father Jamie with helping the pop star get back on her feet.
The actor also told Kimmel he regrets not having reached out another troubled young star, Heath Ledger, who died last year of an accidental drug overdose.
“I shoulda called him years before,” Gibson said. “I didn’t really know the ins and outs of what was up with him, but I don’t believe it was just an accident.
“Maybe I coulda called him… When you see sort of an impending tragedy or something that might go wrong, it just felt like I should do something about it.”

Penelope Cruz and Heath Ledger Nab Oscars for Supporting Roles

Penelope Cruz took the first award of the night at the 81st Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday.
Cruz won the Supporting Actress statue for the Spanish language movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona, written and directed by Woody Allen.
In the movie, Cruz stars as a feisty woman in a three-way affair with her ex-husband and an American woman played by Scarlett Johansson.
“Has anybody ever fainted here? Because I might be the first one,” Cruz said when she accepted the Oscar–her first. “Thank you, Woody, for trusting me with this beautiful character. Thank you for having written all these years some of the greatest characters for women.”

Naomi Watts Remembers Heath Ledger
In the latest issue of Parade magazine, Australian actress Naomi Watts opens up about two fellow Aussies.
Watts, 40, met former boyfriend Heath Ledger in 2002 on the set of Ned Kelly. She tells the mag of falling in love with her co-star: “I hadn’t really been that familiar with his work. Then, when I got to the set and did that first scene with him, I was like, ‘Wow! This guy is alive.’ It was just something deep in his eyes. You could look into them, and they would tell a thousand stories in one glance.”
Adds Watts, “There was a wonderful mixture of power and fragility at work in everything he did, which just pulls you in. His strength didn’t scare you. It intrigued you. And his fragility touched you.”
Although Naomi and Heath split in ’04, they remained close friends up until Heath’s death last February of an accidental drug overdose. Naomi says of the tragedy, “It’s still incredibly difficult.”
As for why the Oscar-nominated Watts stuck with acting, it was none other than close friend Nicole Kidman who gave her the encouragement.
“I remember many times saying, ‘Oh, I just can’t do it. I’m going to wrap it up and call it a day.’ And Nicole would say, ‘Hang in there.’ She told me that it just takes one thing—and she was right in the end.”
Watts’ latest movie, The International, hits theaters Feb. 13
SAG Award Winners
If the SAG awards are a predictor of the Oscars, odds are shaping up for two Academy Award hopefuls: Slumdog Millionaire and Heath Ledger.
The feel-good indie flick and the late Australian actor both took home SAG awards Sunday night.
In a surprise win, Meryl Streep snagged the trophy for Best Actress in a Leading Role, beating out Kate Winslet, who took home the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Dressed in black pants and a matching top, Streep told the audience, “”I didn’t even buy a dress, I’m really, really shocked.”
Another unexpected win of the night was Sean Penn, who was awarded the Best Actor in a Leading Role for Milk. Mickey Rourke had won for his role in The Wrestler at various other award shows.
In TV land, 30 Rock rocked the house again. Both Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin took home Leading Actor awards, while the show was awarded Best Ensemble Comedy Series.
Mad Men also continued its’ mad winning streak, landing a win for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.
And while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been sitting pretty throughout award season, neither half of the A-list couple has yet to take home any wins.
