After having surgery to remove the granuloma above his vocal cord last October, it looks like John Mayer’s throat problems are not over yet.
The singer announced Friday via his Tumblr that his 21 city tour has been canceled and went into detail about his condition.
“I want to explain this a bit more in depth than I have in the past, because I know there’s some confusion as to what this condition is; a granuloma forms and continues to snowball because it’s in a spot where the vocal cords hit together and there’s no way to really give it a chance to heal without a good stretch of time and some pretty intensive treatment.”
Although he can’t perform, Mayer is still hard at work making music. The 34-year-old said “I feel really vibrant as a writer at the moment and there’s no reason not to begin the next album project in the time I would have been touring.”
There is some good news for Mayer fans though, his new album Born and Raised is due out this May and he plans to begin working on his next album shortly after.
