At the premiere of My Best Friend’s Girl, Kate Hudson admits it’s pretty cool to be in an R-rated movie.
“You get to curse a lot more and you get to have a lot more freedom and it feels actually closer to what you really are. Censorship is weird sometimes, it’s definitely confining so this was a lot more freedom,” she told reporters at press conference for her new comedy Monday.
And she hasn’t done a lot of cursing in her previous films. “It’s a first for me because I’ve never been in an R-rated movie,” she added.
The actress—who has dealt with her fair share of heartbreak—shared some secrets to dealing with the public opinion.
“In order to deal with [everything], I just once again go back to my life at home with my family, my son and my friends,” she said. “It makes everything okay. It makes everything feel more balanced.”
When she’s not with her family, Hudson—who was once married to Chris Robinson and recently broke up with Lance Armstrong—did admit to taking time out to date. But she wishes guys could understand one thing: Girls just want to have fun.
“One date, I just left before we even ordered food because the guy was just so deeply boring that it was like, ‘I’m going to just save us from all of this and just leave,’” admitted Hudson, 29, adding that her date “was in banking. I’m not kidding.”
My Best Friend’s Girl opens in theaters Sept. 19.
