Court rules Madonna can’t adopt Mercy James since she hasn’t been a resident of Malawi for 18 months.
Madonna is finally coming clean about her plans to bring home 4-year-old Mercy James from Malawi.
After avoiding all talk of her latest adoption plans, despite confirmations from Malawian officials, Madge is finally ready to admit she will be adopting a baby girl.
Tuesday morning, the pop star said she was following standard Malawian procedures to adopt a little girl, Chifundo “Mercy” James.
Madonna’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, added of Madonna’s adopted 3-year-old son, David Banda: “Madonna is committed to maintaining an ongoing relationship with David’s Malawian roots.”
Madonna and her children Lourdes, Rocco and David (whom she adopted in ’06), arrived in Malawi Sunday to greet their new family member.
The first court hearing in the adoption process took place Monday, but a ruling in the case was postponed until Friday.

Just days ago officials in Malawi said Madge’s “wild lifestyle” could get in the way of her plans to adopt another baby, but if all goes as planned, the stork may have a delivery for the 50-year-old soon enough.
An official at the Malawi welfare department confirmed Madonna has filed adoption papers, the AP reports.
According to other sources close to the case, Madonna is scheduled to be in Malawi this weekend, while a court could hear her adoption case as soon as Monday.
Madonna’s adoption of 3-year-old David Banda, also from Malawi, stirred controversy when people believed officials bent the adoption rules for Madge. David’s adoption became official in May of ’08.
Rumors have circulated that this time around, the Queen of Pop is hoping for a girl.
Officials in Malawi say Madonna’s “wild lifestyle” -- including hook-ups with 20-something model Jesus Luz and A-Rod -- might come between her and another baby.
Madonna may find her hands very full in the near future.
Just a week after rumors circulated that Madge may be ready to adopt again, the nanny of her adopted son, David, has quit.
The Daily Mail reports that Angela, a nanny from Australia, handed in her resignation only to be told by Madonna to pack her bags immediately.
A source tells the paper, “The rumor is that Madonna was furious that Angela was leaving and dismissed her before she had the chance to complete her full notice.
“All Madonna’s employees work incredibly long hours, so it’s no surprise that Angela had had enough,” the source added. “If you work for Madonna you are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There’s no such thing as a weekend.”
Looks like the Material Girl may have her work cut out for her if all goes planned. Madonna will reportedly return to Malawi in the next couple months to adopt another child.

In the April issue of Details magazine, Alex Rodriguez gives himself a big smooch in the mirror…maybe he’s taking a page from the playbook of former rumored love interest Madonna?
Although he was happy to bare his ripped arms for the mag, Rodriguez was slim on details about Madge.
“Well, we’re friends,” he said. “I have a lot of respect for her…She’s very smart and she’s passionate about everything she does…if there ever was any situation, she’s a great ear to have, you know?”
It sounds like the Queen of pop may be following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie.
Despite earlier controversy regarding the adoption of her Malawian son, David, Madonna has said she may be ready to adopt another child from the poor, African country.
Earlier this year, the Malawian government was criticized for allowing Madonna to bend the laws that prohibit non-Malawian residents from adopting.
“Many people — especially our Malawian friends — say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister,” Madonna told a Malawian newspaper.
“It’s something I have been considering, but would only do, if I had the support of the Malawian people and the Government.”
A Malawian court approved David’s adoption in May of ’08.
Last August, Madonna denied rumors she was planning to adopt another Malawian child.
