David Duchovny—who recently completed a stint in rehab for sex addition—and wife Tea Leoni have been separated for months, their rep confirmed on Wednesday.

“In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months,” the statement says, according to People magazine.

“The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children.”

The former X-Files star—who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime’s Californication—voluntarily entered rehab in August for sex addiction and spent a little over a month in treatment.

Earlier this month, Duchovny and Leoni were spotted together at a Czech Street festival in Manhattan.

Duchovny, 48, has been married to Leoni since 1997. They have two children, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd, 6.

David Duchovny has checked out of rehab after being treated for sex addiction for a little over a month.

The former X-Files star, who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime’s Californication, voluntarily entered rehab in late August.

His lawyer Stanton Stein said in a statement that the actor has checked out and is moving on: “David has successfully completed his rehabilitation, he is out of rehab and will be starting a movie soon.”
