Ellen DeGeneres will take over Paula Abdul’s spot on the Idol judging bench…let the fun begin!

In one of her first interviews since announcing her departure from American Idol, Paula Abdul is finally opening up about the real reasons she decided it was time to say goodbye.

“I had to stand on my principle,” Abdul tells TV Guide. “I’m going to miss the experience of watching young talent evolve into a place where they get to take off and soar.”

Although it was rumored that Paula, who served as a judge for eight seasons, was involved in a paycheck dispute with FOX, she says that isn’t so.

“I stand on principle where many people stand on money,” she says. “I’m a hard-working artist. I’ve lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can’t do that unless you are good at what you do.”

Next up for Abdul?

The singer will be hosting this year’s VH1 Diva Series on Sept. 17, and hopes to eventually land herself a full time hosting gig, telling the mag she would be interested in her own talk show.

“I believe in myself and you have to have your own self respect,” Paula added. “And sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, but I’ve always believed that at the core I’m a survivor. There’s not one thing I’ve done that I’ve really set my mind to that I’ve failed at.”

Just weeks after Paula Abdul announced her departure from American Idol, the flighty judge has already landed herself a new gig.

“Hi guys! im really excited 2 announce ill b hosting this year’s “Vh1 Divas”!The show will be live on Sept 17th @ 9 pm EST,” Paula announced on her Twitter page early Tuesday morning.

This year’s diva’s include Miley Cyrus, Adele, and former Idols, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Jordin Sparks.

Add Joe Jonas to the list of celebs that will be making the rounds on the upcoming season of American Idol.

Joe will be serving as a guest judge during the Dallas round of auditions this Monday, a rep for the singer has confirmed to People.

With the empty seat left on the judge’s panel since Paula Abdul’s departure, other celebs including Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige and Shania Twain have all stepped up to the plate.

The upcoming season of Idol premieres in January.

Just one day after it was announced Paula Abdul would not be returning to the 9th season of American Idol, it seems she already has a replacement—temporarily.

Victoria Beckham is scheduled to make a “one-off appearance” on an episode of the hit FOX reality show, Britain’s Sky News reports.

Don’t get too comfy with the former Spice Girl on your small-screen. Victoria reportedly will not be serving as a full time judge, as she wants to continue to focus on her fashion line,

While the official word on Paula Abdul’s return is still uknown, it has been confirmed that American Idol’s other female judge, Kara DioGuardi, will be coming back for her second season on the hit reality show.

“Her deal is done. There are no ifs, ands or buts,” sources tell E! Online of Kara’s comeback. “Done. She will be back.”

The source added that DioGuardi’s deal is nowhere close to what the other veteran members of AI will be making.

Host Ryan Seacrest recently inked a deal worth $45 million for three more years, while mastermind Simon Cowell was reportedly offered $144 million to stay on.

DioGuardi is set to start shooting auditions for the next season of Idol sometime in the next week or so.

Guess we’ll just have to wait to see if Paula will be joining her at the judges table.
