“American Idol” Alum Blake Lewis Dropped from Label

Blake Lewis is the latest American Idol to be dropped by his label after dismal album sales, according to Rolling Stone.
The blond beatboxer and season six runner-up signed with Arista in August of 2007 but failed to chart any singles off his debut album Audio Day Dreams, which sold only 300,000 copies.
Lewis lost out to Jordin Sparks in the talent show and was contractually obligated to sign with a major label, perhaps against his better judgment.
While some Idols, including Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, continue to ride the wave of TV fame, others like Lewis find their fifteen minutes are quickly over.
Silver fox Taylor Hicks and season two winner Ruben Studdard were both dropped from their labels after failing to prove as popular once the cameras stopped rolling.
