Amy Winehouse Undergoing Further Tests in Hospital
June 19, 2008
Amy Winehouse remained in the hospital Thursday after fainting earlier this week at her London home.
The troubled singer collapsed at her home on Monday, and was rushed to the hospital by her father, Mitch, her rep confirmed Tuesday to CelebTV.com.
“She is undergoing tests,” the rep said at the time. “She is in good spirits.”
Spokesman Chris Goodman says Winehouse had more scans and tests Thursday.
The Rehab singer, 24, collapsed Monday at her north London home after signing autographs for a group of fans. An assistant caught her before she hit the ground.
According to U.K.’s The Sun, Winehouse could be in the hospital for weeks, after relatives decided they would do whatever necessary to make the singer quit drugs.
“Amy is doing fine. She is staying in as long as possible,” her dad, Mitch, told the paper on Wednesday.
“She’ll be in there for a while if her family get their way,” said another source. “There is a feeling they can have a good crack at sorting her out this time.”
Winehouse is scheduled to sing at a June 27th concert to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday, and is due to take part in the Glastonbury music festival the next day.
Her spokesman says that although Winehouse still plans to perform at both concerts, the decision “will be made entirely on the advice of her doctors and in her best interests.”
