Ashlee Simpson Comes Clean about Canceled Tour

Ashlee Simpson canceled her summer tour this weekend, only days after hubby Pete Wentz announced—via his blog—the pair is expecting their first child.

Her publicist released a statement about her tour, saying, “After careful consideration, Ashlee Simpson has decided to postpone her summer tour. She is committed to giving her fans the best show possible, and will be back better than ever and ready to rock in the future.”

Simpson is not offering any excuses, though. She wrote on her blog Monday, “I’m really sorry to announce that I’m going to postpone my tour this summer.”

The 23-year-old singer revealed on her blog that she was advised by her team to give a variety of excuses like “jury duty” or “creative differences.” She also joked that she could’ve said she’s “not in the mood/have a headache (wait, that was an excuse for Pete! and it didn’t work...).”

In the end, it appears to be the baby that will keep her from touring. She continues, “The truth is I want to put on an amazing show for you the next time I come to your town.”

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz tied the knot on May 17. The celebration following included an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception.
