Comedian Bernie Mac Dies at 50

Comedian Bernie Mac died Saturday morning in Chicago from pneumonia.
The actor and performer was hospitalized on August 1, and his rep said he was stable and no longer in danger on Friday. He was expected to be released within a week.
Saturday morning, his rep released the following statement: “Actor/ comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. No other details are available at this time. We ask that his family’s privacy continues to be respected.”
Mac, whose real name is Bernard McCullough, is probably best known for his TV show, The Bernie Mac Show, which ran from 2001 to 2006. The show was a comedic take on the actor’s own life.
Mac passed away early this morning at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was 50 years old.
