Family of Brandy Crash Victim: Show Us Your Cell Phone Records
April 29, 2008
The parents of a woman who was killed in a car accident involving Brandy want the R&B star to turn over her cell phone records from the day of the crash, according to court documents first obtained by CelebTV.com.
In a motion filed on April 18 in L.A. Superior Court, the family of Awatef Aboudihaj claims that Brandy (full name: Brandy Norwood) rear-ended the 38-year-old woman’s car because she was “driving with an unsafe speed and was inattentive, likely because she was using her cell phone at the time of the incident.”
On Dec. 30, 2006, Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph on a Los Angeles freeway when she hit the 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by Aboudihaj, a married mother of two who later died from her injuries.
In January 2007, Aboudihaj’s parents filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the former Moesha star. The suit alleges “Brandy was driving recklessly” when she struck their daughter.
Brandy was not injured in the 2006 crash and there was no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved. She was not arrested or charged with a crime.
The singer reportedly said over and over again at the scene that she was responsible for the accident.
