Spears and Federline Will Go to Trial Over Custody Issues

It looks like Britney Spears and Kevin Federline will be hashing out their custody issues in an August trial.
K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! News that the pair tried to work out a custody agreement for sons Sean Preston, 2 ½, and Jayden James, 1 ½, out of court on Thursday—with the help of a mediator—but failed.
“The mediation didn’t result in an agreement that would avoid the trial set in August,” Kaplan said. “The mood was comfortable, positive and it was a mood that was consistent with opening at least a great dialogue, which is necessary.”
Kaplan added that Federline is asking for sole physical and legal custody of the boys, and wants Spears to continue with her current visitation of three days a week.
“If the existing arrangement was acceptable to both parties, we wouldn’t have to go to trial,” Kaplan told E!. “But that didn’t happen.”
Earlier this week, sources say, Spears was granted overnight visits with her sons.
Spears and Federline’s custody trial, which would establish a long-term custody arrangement, is scheduled to begin August 25.
