Britney Spears and her boyfriend, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, were spotted Wednesday night in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, as first reported by Entertainment Tonight.
The rambling pop star and the pap were spotted in Spears' black Cadillac Escalade, with Ghalib at the wheel.
This conflicts with numerous websites reporting that duo boarded a private jet on Wednesday afternoon in Van Nuys, Calif., and headed to New York.
Spears and Ghalib were said to have landed at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport, just miles outside of Manhattan. In Mexico, Spears, 26, wearing her pink wig, and Ghalib, 35, checked into the Rosarito Beach Hotel around 3:00 p.m., according to a local paper.
At the hotel, Spears bought a fake Gucci bag at the gift shop while Ghalib bought a rosary, according to El Vigia.
"She looked serious and haggard," a sales clerk told the paper. "She didn't have makeup."
Spears' Mexican getaway might have to be a short vacation. According to court documents first obtained by CelebTV.com, Britney's ex Kevin Federline was granted sole physical and legal custody of his and Britney Spears' two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, on Jan. 4, following an emergency hearing.
The order is in effect until Jan. 14, at which time Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, may want the pop star back in the courthouse in an attempt to extend the full custody.
