BRITNEY’S CAR CASE POSTPONED
February 20, 2008
Britney Spears is juggling a lot of court dates right now, but a hearing over driving without a California license has just been delayed.
"It has been postponed until March 20 to see how she progresses," Michael Flanagan, Spears' lawyer, tells CelebTV.com.
A hearing on the case was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but Flanagan asked Judge T.K. Herman for a continuance because "[Britney] has been placed under a conservatorship which means she is not qualified to make decisions on her own."
In August, Spears was videotaped hitting a parked car and leaving the scene, which resulted in charges for driving without a California license and hit-and-run (the latter count was dropped).
At the time, CelebTV.com spoke exclusively to Kim Robard-Rifkin, whose parked car was involved in the incident.
Flanagan, who is not representing Spears in her ongoing custody case or the issue of her conservatorship, says he has not had direct contact with the 26-year-old pop star lately.
"I have not had any recent contact with her, just with her conservator's attorneys," he tells CelebTV.com.
For the case to proceed on March 20, Spears would need to be judged legally competent.
