CELEBTV.COM EXCLUSIVE: ANTHONY HOPKINS—PAY ME
October 17, 2007
Sir Anthony Hopkins' company, Samson, Inc., is demanding to be paid for the actor's latest movie, City of Your Final Destination, according to court documents first obtained by CelebTV.com.
Hopkins, who portrayed Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs, is demanding "compensatory damages" in the amount of $750,000.
According to court documents, on October 6, 2006, Merchant Ivory Productions, Inc., entered into an agreement with Hopkins and his company, Samson, Inc., to render acting services. However, Hopkins' suit claims the actor was never paid for his work.
All payments were supposed to be final by January 10, 2007. The court documents claim that Hopkins held up his end of the bargain, fully performing on the set of the movie, but that none of the fees has been paid to date.
Hopkins won an Academy Award for Silence of the Lambs in 1992. City of Your Final Destination is currently in post-production and will be released in 2008.
