‘CELEBTV.COM EXCLUSIVE: COPPERFIELD’S ATTORNEY SAYS MAGICIAN IS A “GENTLEMAN”
October 09, 2007 In an exclusive interview with CelebTV.com, David Copperfield's lawyer says his client is bearing up well under the pressure of a current investigation for alleged sexual assault.
"David is a serious-minded person," David Chesnoff tells us. "He has faith that this will work out because at the end of the day, he's conducted his life like a gentleman."
In an earlier statement to CelebTV.com, Chesnoff strongly denied any improper conduct on his client's part, saying, "An allegation has been made about supposed sexual misconduct by David Copperfield. The allegation is 100% false, and we deny it in the strongest possible terms. Unfortunately false allegations are all too often made against famous individuals"
Although Chesnoff would not specify where Copperfield is currently, he pointed out to CelebTV.com that Copperfield went through with a Las Vegas show Wednesday night -- the same night the magician's warehouse was raided in connection with the sexual assault investigation.
"He performed the other night because he didn't want to disappoint his fans," Chesnoff says.
A spokesperson for the MGM Grand, where Copperfield regularly performs, tells CelebTV.com the illusionist's next performance there is scheduled for Nov. 15.
