JUDGE TO P. DIDDY: SHOW ME THE MONEY
January 29, 2008
According to court documents first obtained by CelebTV.com, a judge has granted a request by an alleged assault victim to allow P. Diddy's financial information to be disclosed.
Gerard Rechnitzer, a real-estate agent who claims Diddy hit him in the jaw unprovoked at an L.A. nightclub last year, was granted the request on Jan. 16 in connection with a lawsuit against the rap impressario.
According to court papers, Rechnitzer is seeking unspecified damages against Diddy, alleging the mogul hit him in the jaw unprovoked and also shoved his girlfriend during a post-Oscar bash at Teddy's club at the Roosevelt Hotel on Feb. 25, 2007.
The real-estate agent says his fiancee was talking with Diddy and when he asked her to leave, the rapper snapped.
Four eyewitnesses have stepped forward to support the real-estate agent's claim.
"I just kind of remember seeing him go flying, not flying as in like feet off the ground, but he went back significantly," said witness Marianna Ruiz, who was part of a group at the club with the Rechnitzer. "I was just in shock that somebody would ... just kind of strike somebody out of nowhere."
A second witness, Michael Sherman, said that, "all of a sudden, he hit him. And there was a taxi behind Gerard. Gerard got knocked into the taxi." Sherman added that Combs then allegedly tried to spit on Ruiz, who was standing nearby.
Diddy's attorneys have called the lawsuit "completely baseless."
