Nick Hogan Transferred Out of Solitary Confinement
June 06, 2008
Florida jail deputies transferred Hulk Hogan’s son out of solitary confinement Thursday and into a communal cell.
Tuesday, a judge denied Nick Hogan’s request to serve the remainder of his jail sentence under house arrest. Hogan shot back with a civil lawsuit against the Florida jail where he is being held.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda denies the move was a result of the lawsuit. Barreda says a constantly changing jail population means that housing assignments are routinely reviewed, and an opportunity arose to put the juveniles together.
Nick Hogan is now sharing his living space with three other juvenile inmates.
In the lawsuit, Hogan’s attorneys claimed the 17-year-old was being “forced to endure solitary confinement” and was “suffering extreme emotional distress” because of the release of his jailhouse phone calls.
Hogan was initially segregated because he is a minor, albeit convicted in adult court. He is serving an eight-month sentence after pleading no contest to causing a crash that seriously injured his friend.
