OOPS! SHE PARKED IN A HANDICAPPED SPOT
November 05, 2007 Britney Spears' slew of car troubles include a recently dismissed hit-and-run charge, driving without a valid California and running over a paparazzo's foot.
The pop star's most recent offense? Parking her white Mercedes convertible in a handicapped zone. On Saturday, Spears popped by a north Hollywood tanning salon and parked in a handicapped spot that was clearly marked with both a sign and a painted marker on the pavement.
The singer emerged from her car wearing black pants, a white sleeveless top and dark glasses, strolling into the salon for her tan, seemingly oblivious to her mistake.
Bruce McElrath, CEO of Disability Rights Advocacy Group, faults Britney for the error. "I think it shows a sure sign of insensitivity towards persons of disability," he tells CelebTV.com. "I think it gives a great disregard to the law and she should be punished as anybody else would with maximum fine, for parking in a handicap spot without having a handicap tag or a valid handicap placard."
