Jenna Bush Weds in Texas
May 10, 2008
Jenna Bush made it official with 29-year-old business school student Henry Hager during a Saturday evening wedding ceremony at the Bush family Texas ranch. Jenna, 26, wore an Oscar de la Renta gown for the high-security event which featured her twin sister, Barbara, as the maid of honor.
Jenna elected to avoid a wedding of presidential proportions by choosing the ranch over a White House ceremony. The presence of the President and First Lady Laura Bush still put this union into a state of high interest on the part of the media.
The couple recited their vows in front of a limestone altar and cross near a lake on the ranch property, according to reports.
The bride’s dress was reportedly organza with some embroidery and featured a small train. Sister Barbara was said to have worn a moonstone-blue silk gown with an open back.
Reporters outside the Crawford, Texas ranch had a better view of security efforts than the actual ceremony. Secret Service agents, local police, surveillance cameras, roadblocks and a designated no-fly zone for aircraft overhead all secured the privacy of the affair with approximations of 200 guests in attendance.
Following a honeymoon that reports speculate will take place in Europe, the newlyweds are expected to settle in Baltimore, Md., where they recently bought a $440,000 home.
