Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty on two felony accounts–assault and making criminal threats, stemming from the Feb. 8 incident where the rapper allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown entered a Los Angeles courtroom around 3:30 PST, along with his mother. The R&B star reportedly seemed nervous when asked his plea and answered in a quiet voice, “not guilty.”
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told the judge “more discovery was needed” in the case again, although a search warrant claims Rihanna was allegedly punched, choked, and threatened to be killed by Brown.
The hearing has been set for April 29.
If convicted, Brown could faces probation or a maximum sentence of up to four years and eight months in prison.
Rihanna was not present at the hearing.
