Christian Bale may be tired of playing the good guy.
The Batman star was questioned by police Tuesday over allegations he assaulted his mother and sister the night before the European premiere of his film, The Dark Knight.
Bale was released later that afternoon and is set to return to a precinct in September pending further inquiries.
CelebTV.com contacted Scotland Yard, and they confirmed: “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault and he is currently in custody.
“He has been bailed to return on a date in September pending further inquiries into two separate allegations of assault.”
His mother and sister reportedly complained that Bale assaulted them at a west London hotel on Sunday. According to reports, Bale’s mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, went to a police station in Hampshire Monday to file a complaint and the allegation was passed on to Scotland Yard in London.
The actor was expected to be questioned Tuesday.
The Sun newspaper said police did not question Bale on Monday because they did not want to interfere with the premiere.
Bale once told E!, “If everyone really knew what a jerk I am in real life, I wouldn’t be so adored in the slightest.”
Bale’s reps did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
