Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber are the latest celebrities to find themselves at the center of an extortion plot, involving a photo of their 8-year-old daughter.
The photo, taken by the couple’s former nanny, shows the child (then 7) “in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged,” according to documents filed in the U.S. District Court, KTLA reports.
The child told her parents the photo was taken as part of the nanny’s “cops and robbers” game, which Crawford maintains knowing nothing about.
Crawford and her entrepreneur husband have since been blackmailed by Edis “Eddie” Kayalar, an acquaintance of the nanny who demanded $100,000 from the couple, or he would release the photo to the media.
Currently, Kayalar, a male model, has been charged with one count of extortion, and could face up to two years in prison if convicted.
