David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have friends in pretty high places, but the couple gave close friend, Tom Cruise, quite an honor when they welcomed their third son.
“I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, “Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different”, David told The Daily Mail.
And indeed the Beckham’s did, naming their youngest child Cruz, after the Valkyrie star.
“Also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it,” David added.
Since the Beckham’s moved their brood to the States in ’07, the family has become even closer with Cruise and his wife, Katie Holmes, living just five minutes away from each other in Beverly Hills.
As for whether or not 4-year-old Cruz will grow up to be like his namesake, only time will tell.
