After weathering a serious car crash this weekend, Morgan Freeman is revealing more bad news.
The actor’s friend, Mississippi-based attorney Bill Luckett, confirmed Wednesday that The Shawshank Redemption star is getting a divorce from his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.
The Dark Knight actor and Colley-Lee “are involved in a divorce action,” Luckett told Access Hollywood.
“And for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”
The couple have no children together.
Late Sunday night, Freeman was involved in a single-car crash near his home in rural Mississippi after his car went off the road and flipped over several times before landing in a ditch.
Morgan and his female passenger, Demaris Meyer – who has been described as a family friend—were airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. Morgan underwent surgery Tuesday for a broken arm and elbow. Demaris was treated for and released.
