Angelina Jolie: “Disney Offends Me and My Children”
June 04, 2008
Angelina Jolie is openly criticizing Disney for not representing a wide variety of ethnicities and cultures in their movies.
The mother of four—who is currently pregnant with twins—has blasted Disney filmmakers in particular for not featuring an African princess in their films.
Jolie tells Britain’s OK magazine that it upsets her multicultural family.
The Kung Fu Panda star and her husband, Brad Pitt, feel let down by Disney and are urging the movie giant to be more diverse.
Jolie insists educating their children about culture is important in the Jolie-Pitt household.
She explains to the magazine, “(So) even the colour of the children in the cartoon matters.
“There still isn’t a Disney princess that’s African and it’s very difficult because our daughter’s getting into princesses right now and it upsets me.”
Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children: Maddox, 6 Pax, 4; Zahara, 3, as well as biological daughter Shiloh, 2.
