Actress Gwyneth Paltrow admits she felt depressed after her second child, Moses, now 2, was born.
“You know, I had postnatal depression after Moses,” Paltrow says in the May issue of Vogue. “I didn’t know I had it until after it was over. I just didn’t know what was wrong with me…I felt really out of my body. I felt really disconnected. I felt really down; I felt pessimistic.”
The Oscar winner married rocker Chris Martin in 2003, and shortly after, the pair welcomed their daughter Apple, who turns 4 in May.
Paltrow tells the magazine the depression may have been in part because she dropped some of her regular pre-baby treatments, like acupuncture and massage.
Now, she says, depression is behind her, and she has returned to work.
But don’t expect the former fashionista to be as stylish as she once was. Paltrow says she’s pared down her wardrobe to a few basic items like minidresses and tights, jeans and some boots.
“It’s like I want to eliminate all of the fuss,” Paltrow told the magazine. “I don’t have time anymore to sit there and be like, ‘What should I wear? What goes with this?’”
Paltrow will appear in the upcoming movie Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr.
