Kelly Osbourne has more than enough life experience to tackle the British tabloid’s advice column.
The daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne has been through rehab twice and stolen the spotlight in her famous family for outlandish celebrity feuds and drastic weight fluctuations. Now, she’s taking on the job as the newest teen troubleshooter for the The Sun newspaper.
“Absolutely no subject is off limits,” the singer says in her debut column. “I’m prepared for anything, so don’t be embarrassed!”
Osbourne is no stranger to teen drama. The 23-year-old has been counseling listeners on her Radio 1 show The Surgery for the last nine months.
“It’s hard being a teen,” she says. “That’s why I want to hear your worries, fears and stresses, whether it’s lack of confidence, boyfriend woes, sexually transmitted infections or exams.”
In her debut column, Osbourne tackles tough issues including a daughter’s desperate plea to save her family’s home, teenage drug use and one girl’s desire to come clean after lying to her boyfriend about losing her virginity.
While Osbourne’s advice is well-intentioned, it falls short on insight. She advised a teen who recently overdosed to call into her Radio 1 show, while telling her that “Maybe things aren’t as bad as they seem.”
Osbourne’s editorial is the first in a series of monthly columns.
