After gearing up for a nasty court battle, Bill Murray and his second wife, Jennifer Butler-Murray, have settled their divorce quietly, according to the National Enquirer.
The couple’s 10-year marriage was dissolved June 13 in a Charleston, S.C., court without any of Jennifer’s allegations of adultery, drug abuse and sex addiction against Murray figuring into the case, the magazine reports in its latest issue.
Instead, the judge granted the uncontested divorce on the grounds that the couple had been separated for a year or more.
In her divorce filing on May 12, Butler-Murray claimed that the comedian had hit her, threatened to kill her and was addicted to marijuana and alcohol.
However, Murray’s ex seems to have plenty of problems of her own.
On March 17, 2008, Butler-Murray got so drunk that two of her kids ran to a neighbor’s house for help and police were called, according to a report filed with the Sullivan’s Island Police Department.
According to the Enquirer, Jennifer did a 45-day stint in alcohol rehab just before she filed for divorce.
After her early May release, she apparently threatened to drag the Lost in Translation star through the mud.
The divorce settlement allows Jennifer to keep the home where she lives with the couple’s four children, receive child support and—under terms of a prenup—a lump sum of $7 million, payable 60 days after the date of the final divorce decree.
Murray’s attorney could not be reached for comment. Calls to an attorney for Butler-Murray were not immediately returned.
