Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell to Star in Sherlock Holmes Movie

Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Borat, is leaving his Kazakstanian accent behind to show America how Sherlock Holmes kicks it.

Will Ferrell will play Holmes’ sidekick, Dr. Watson, while Cohen will take the role of the legendary fictional detective, according to Variety magazine.

“Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh. Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious,” said the producer Matt Tolmach, who is also the co-president of Columbia Pictures.

This is the second new film about the London-based detective which is due to start production this year.

Madonna’s husband, Guy Ritchie, recently signed up to do his own Holmes movie for Warner Bros. However, Ritchie’s version will concentrate on Holmes’ “skills as a boxer and a swordfighter.”

Holmes is listed as the most portrayed movie character in the Guinness Book of World Records, with over 70 actors playing the character in more than 200 films.
