Lindsey Vonn graces the pages of Vogue‘s August Issue, and her stance on marriage is pretty clear: “No, thanks! I am definitely not getting married. To anyone.” We’re guessing Tiger probably isn’t too upset about that.
In the mag, Vonn, 28, talks her current relationship with playboy and golfer Tiger Woods as well as her previous marriage with former coach Thomas Vonn which ended in a messy divorce last year. The Olympian says she experienced periods of intense depression towards the end of her marriage and believes that working professionally so closely with her ex led to problems in the relationship.
“I think there needs to be a certain kind of understanding because it’s very hard for me to relate to someone who doesn’t do sports at a high level. That part is necessary. But to have business in a relationship is very difficult,” she said about her ex-husband being her former coach.
The skier concludes, “[Marriage] definitely did not work for me, and I would not recommend it. I would also not recommend getting married.”
Even so, Vonn says that she realized almost immediately that she and Woods shared a connection. They met at a charity event in 2012 and Vonn says that they became good friends first before taking things to the next level.
The couple were very hush-hush about their new relationship and Vonn says she was a little blindsided by the amount of public attention, especially after being flown in Woods’ private jet back to the United States after a crash in Austria.
“Tiger’s fame is obviously in the extreme, the amount of scrutiny that he’s constantly under,” she says.
What do you think about Vonn’s interview? Do you think it will last with Tiger?
