In her latest plea for Mercy, Madonna’s record label has released this new photo of a motherly Madge caring for the 4-year-old Malawian girl.
It’s been a little over a week since Madonna’s request to adopt Mercy from the African country was denied, but that hasn’t stopped the pop star from campaigning for the little girl.
Along with the new Madonna-with-child photo, the singer, 50, released an e-mail she had sent to Malawi’s Nation newspaper.
In the letter, Madonna says, “I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and health care possible.
“And it’s my hope that she, like [Madonna's adopted son] David [Banda], will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country.
“Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world.”
It is unclear when Madonna is scheduled to report back to Malawi to appeal the court ruling.
