Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have taken it to the legal level, obtaining a marriage license on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, according to People magazine.
“Under Bahamian law, a couple must be in the country for at least 48 hours, be over the age of 18 and marry within 90 days of the license’s issuance,” Monique Gomez, a Bahamian attorney, tells CelebTV.com. “The marriage license is completely valid anywhere in the world.”
Carey, 39, and Cannon, 27, tied the knot this week after less than two months of dating. Sources also confirm the couple’s recent Eleuthera wedding was within the specified 90-day time frame.
Carey was previously married to music mogul Tommy Mottola and Cannon was once engaged—but never married—to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks.
