Mischa Barton speaks out for the first time about being in a psychiatric hospital.
Former O.C. star, Mischa Barton, reveals to Time Out New York why she did a stint at Cedars Sinai Medical Center Last Month.
The actress says a combination of factors like traveling abroad, getting through wisdom tooth surgery “without proper painkillers” and prepping for her new show, really took a toll on her.
She says "I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once.”
Mischa admits she was checked into the hospital by her mom against her will but doesn’t think she had a full-on nervous breakdown.
"I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while," she says. "Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control."
After leaving the hospital, Mischa immediately went to work on her new show, The Beautiful Life, and says that’s exactly where she wants to be.
“I’m ready to work,” she says.
The Beautiful Life premieres Sept. 16th on the CW.
