Who ever said “Everything good must come to an end” obviously never worked in television.
After three years, today marked the final episode of “The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet”.
I was lucky enough to be a regular guest on the show- every Monday morning I joined Egypt Sherrod, Michelle Collins and a celebrity guest for a segment called “The Monday Morning Mix” where we discussed the topics everyone was buzzing about.
I owe it all to my producers Lindsay Carlton- who had originally booked me for Fox’s late night news show“Red-Eye”, and Marvin Dayne who took a chance on me during the R. Kelly trial.
For ten months I flew almost every Sunday to NYC for the Monday morning show, and by the end I started to feel a little bit like family. From the executive producer to the amazing hair and make-up crew- everyone behind the scenes worked their butts off and always remained cool and calm.
The show taught me all about doing live TV on a set with six people who have different opinions and a lot to say about them.
Some of my favorite memories included:
Seeing how beautiful Khloe Kardashian is in person, talking vampires with Steven Baldwin, life lessons with the feisty Judge Jeanine Pirro, Tim Gunn approving my wardrobe choice, being compared to Olivia Paleremo and her reaction to me asking for a photo with her, meeting two of my favorite “Real Housewives”, seeing how tiny Brooke Burke’s waist is, dodging Mike’s innuendos, and making a Lindsay Lohan “white powder” joke that had the live studio roaring with laughter.
I was booed at, had jokes fall flat and even got into a few arguments with some of my fellow “mix members”, but every show taught me something different and the experience was invaluable.
Mike and Juliet will both land fantastic new gigs, I’m confident of that- and I’m sure I’ll be lucky enough to cross paths with several of the producers in the future.
But for now, I can’t help but feel a little sad…
