It’s not quite the end of the world, but Oprah Winfrey’s talk show reign will end in 2011 — after 25 years on the air — as she announces live on Friday’s show.
ON HER LIVE SHOW FRIDAY MORNING, AN EMOTIONAL OPRAH MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT NO ONE WANTED TO HEAR:
After much prayer & thought I decided my last show. I want u to hear this directly fro me. 2 yrs. Ago, I went live; I was beyond excited & a little nervous. Knew it was a miraculous opportunity. Never imagined the yellow brick road of blessings. U have enriched my lives & invited me into your kitchens & lives & some of u grew up /me. Had family, had though u came from b. my relationship is one I hold dear & your trust in me has brought me the greatest joy I’ve ever known. Still means as much to me as it did in 86. If I walk away, I love the show, it has been my life, love it know enough to say bye. 25 yrs…exact #. Take this ride w/me to final show. Season 25. We are going to knock your socks. Off the countdown starts now.
