  Oh that Cocker is so cute. I love the blond color. Hope this little girl can help take the sting out of losing her female cocker last year. One thing I noticed is that the tail is not docked. Isn’t it the breed standard to dock the cocker tail at birth. They look so cute with the little bottom with a tiny short tail. I know some think it is mean to do, but at the age they do it is not and they also take off the dew claw on the paw on all dogs— I think?

  I had one just idendical like this Nala,she died 4yrs.ago,boy do my husband I miss her soooo very much. I replaced her with a boy Shadow he’s jet black,he is something else too.They r very affectionate & loving dogs. I perfer girls over boy anyday.

  what are the chances of finding 4 purebred beautiful cocker spaniel puppies in a dog shelter? Not likely. I appreciate the effort to send a message (adopt/rather than buy from a breeder), but I’m not buying it. Nobody would dump a litter of pups like that at a shelter. Unless someone dumped an older pregnant cocker spaniel I suppose. I think it sends the wrong message generally. The dogs that really need homes and are mostly at shelters are older.

  I found a purebred Pomeranian via a shelter. Purebreds, even puppies, are dumped all the time. But yes, most shelter dogs are mutts and are just as loveable as any purebred!

  I help out sometimes at shelter and dog pound. With people losing homes you would be shocked at the purebreds coming in. Your right a lot of pregnant females are dropped off. People losing homes are moving into apt. and trailers some will only allow one animal. We have some beautifull purebreds and mutts. Puppies, middleage and a lot of senior animals. Overpopulation is big problem.

  I want a puppy, but I know they are just like babies and require a lot of love and time. I have three children who are college students; a 16 year old son and an 11 month of grandson; my husband and I are away from the house at least twelve hours a day; I want a yorkie, but need to make sure that I can commit to giving the puppy the love and attention it require; I know if I get him all of the responsibility will be mine, any suggestions~

  I have a Yorkie that I got about a year ago. She is absolutely wonderful but yes, she does require ALOT of attention. Yorkie’s are just like babies. I have to take mine with me as much as I can or she will cry and whine the whole time I’m gone. They are also very hard to potty train. It took me about a year and she still pees inside when she gets really excited. If you are gone at least 12 hours a day I suggest a cat. Not as cute but you don’t want to leave a dog alone that long everyday.

  Almost all purebreds will have genetic and/or degenerative health problems due to over breeding. A purebred is essentially an inbred. Hundreds of trysts of “grandparents” mating with “grandchildren” to preserve a pedigree. It’s sickening.

  i agree. but their health problems are also due to breeders breeding for the quality of appearance, breeding the dogs that are closest to the show standard, and not breeding for health or temperment. but many many many many breeders are very careful about why they breed and which dogs their breed.

  It’s believed that the two Cocker Spaniel puppies caught Parvo while staying at the PAWS animal shelter in Chicago.

  Yes, that is true. I was at the Jean Dodds Seminar on Saturday when they announced that Ivan died from Parvo. Sadie was still fighting for her life.
  Hopefully this will open some eyes to the dangers of Parvo. Just because a puppy has been vaccinated does not mean that it has Immunity yet. PARVO is Hightly contagious and can live in the soil for up to 3 years! Puppies should NOT be in puplic places were other animals could have been until they have received their final vaccination.
