A paramedic who was on scene at the time of John Travolta’s son Jett’s death has been charged in an alleged plot to extort $25 million from the Travolta family.
Last week, speculation arose that the alleged extortionists were using a photo of Jett dying in exchange for millions of dollars.
Paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, 47, pleaded not guilty on Monday for attempting to extort, and conspiring to extort from John Travolta, the AP reports.
Prosecutor Bernard Turner is objecting to bail, and also told the AP police are looking for a “certain document”–which may not be found until Lightbourne’s release.
A Bahamian senator has also been accused of being involved in the extortion plot.
Jett Travolta died Jan. 2 in the Bahamas after suffering from a seizure.
