No CommentsBatman star Christian Bale’s now-infamous confrontation with his mother happened after she allegedly insulted his wife, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reports.
Sources close to the actor told the paper the actor “flew off the handle” at London’s Dorchester hotel after his mother, former circus clown Jenny Bale, 61, said “some outrageous things.”
On Tuesday, the 34-year-old actor was arrested in London after allegedly assaulting his mother and sister the night before the European premiere of his film, The Dark Knight.
Bale was released on Tuesday and is set to return to police in September, pending further inquiry.
The actor maintains his innocence, and a source close to him says the Batman star blames his mother for the dust-up.
He’s also said to have become depressed over the death of close friend and co-star Heath Ledger, the Daily Mail reports.
A source told the paper: “Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife.”
It seems that things might not be so rosy between Bale and his wife, either. His marriage to Sandra “Sibi” Blazic, a former model and make-up artist, is in trouble, according to the newspaper.
“He has stresses in his marriage,” said a source. “He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him.”
Despite their apparent troubles, Bale’s wife, who has been married to the actor for eight years, was at his side Tuesday night for the London premiere of The Dark Knight.
