According to Star magazine, the 22-year-old actress was born behind bars, while her mom was serving time in a federal prison in Texas for her involvement in a major drug ring.
Sources tell the magazine that while Meester and her mom were able to spend the first three months together in a halfway house, baby Leighton was quickly moved to a relative’s house where she was raised until her mom’s release.
Unfortunately for the actress, Meester’s mom wasn’t the only one to get busted. The actress’ father, grandfather and aunt also all reportedly spent time in prison for dealing drugs.
And it looks like this rumor is one piece of gossip this girl wants to keep under wraps.
The actress’ imdb.com biography currently lists her birthplace as Marco Island, Fla.
A call to Meester’s rep was not immediately returned.
