Rihanna’s dad is speaking out after a photo showing the pop star looking bruised and battered was leaked online.
Pictures of the the singer–who turns 21 today–with a bruised face and swollen, bloody lips first surfaced on TMZ Feb. 19.
Ronald Fenty, Rihanna’s dad, tells People.com the leaked photo is evidence of “sloppy work” on the part of the LAPD, who are investigating Rihanna’s boyfriend Chris Brown for domestic violence.
“It’s disturbing,” Fenty adds to Us magazine. “It’s good and it’s bad to see the picture because there’s other people who were thinking differently, that [Rihanna's injuries] may not be that bad, just a little spank or a little thing.”
The LAPD is looking into the leak. “A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination,” police said in a statement.
Brown, 19, was arrested on a felony criminal threat charge Feb. 8, the day of the Grammys. He later released a statement saying he was “sorry and saddened” by what happened.
