Shannen Doherty’s reputation precedes her as the former 90210 star prepares to head back to West Beverly High in the series’ upcoming spin off.
“I have heard some of the stories,” 90210 newcomer Anna Lynne McCord says of Doherty, whose catfights with co-star Jennie Garth solidified the resident bad girl’s status both on and off-screen.
Doherty will play a famous theater director who comes back to her old stomping grounds to direct a high school play in the new 90210 series.
Garth is also returning to the show as the school’s guidance counselor and will reunite with her former co-star, whose legendary brawls reportedly turned physical before Doherty left the show in 1994.
“If she and Jennie have it out while I’m there, OK, then, all right, so that’s the story,” McCord says of any impending drama.
McCord’s co-star Ryan Eggold isn’t worried, saying, “[Doherty] will be 100 percent fine for us, for the new kids, because we have no history with her. I’m sure she’s going to come to this with a wonderful attitude.”
Also back for round two is Tori Spelling, whose virginal Donna Martin now owns an upscale boutique.
The new series premieres Sept. 2.
