NFL star Shawne Merriman says he didn’t choke Tequila; she was drunk and he wanted to make sure she was OK. Tila says she doesn’t drink because she’s allergic to alcohol.
Tila Tequila is using her name to defend herself.
Reality star Tila Tequila accused San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman of choking and restraining her early Sunday as she tried to leave his home.
According to the AP, Tequila signed a citizen’s arrest warrant and Merriman was taken into custody for 21/2 hours. But the NFL star says that’s not what happened and released a statement giving his side of the story. He said..
“…I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided…
But Tila denies being drunk tweeting that she doesn’t drink…
"I am allergic to alcohol. She writes, it has been publicly known for years... I cant drink."
"That is how I got the name Tila 'Tequila' cuz the irony."
But now the owner of the Stingaree, the club where Merriman and tequila were Saturday night is defending the football player. He says while he wasn’t there when Tila and Merriman were, his staff told him tequila had been drinking her namesake and some vodka. He tells the AP "she wasn't like falling down or anything of that nature, but she was visibly intoxicated, he adds, "it sounds like she's allergic to the truth,"
