There’s nothing like scaring yourself silly on Halloween… you could check out ‘paranormal activity,’ ‘saw 6’ or the new Cameron Diaz flick, ‘the box’…but we’ve got a few thrills and chills for you with this look back at some of the scariest movie villains of all time…
John carpenters ‘Halloween’ can take credit for creating a whole new kind of horror movie:
“the Slasher film.” Michael Myers never spoke…he just wore a freaky latex mask, and ya knew he was coming when ya heard that scary piano music.
No one could look at a hockey goalie quite the same after legendary Slasher “Jason” wore that mask in the ‘Friday the 13th’ movies.
Michael and Jason may have had you sleeping with the light on, but forget about sleeping altogether with ‘a nightmare on elm street’s’ Freddy Kruger – cuz he’ll get ya – even in your dreams!
He’s 7-feet tall, brandishes a chainsaw, wears a mask made of human skin, and he’s a cannibal... He’s ‘the Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s “Leatherface.” Enough said.
“Jigsaw” of the ‘saw’ movies isn’t into killing his victims…he tortures them – by testing their will to live with sick games of self-mutilation.
‘Chucky’ was just a doll…a doll with a twisted smile, a bunch of scars and the spirit of a serial killer… and some kids never played with dolls again after “Childs Play.”
There’s something a little eerie about clowns… but “pennywise the clown” from “it” gave more kids nightmares than any other villain from the mind of Stephen King…no wonder so many kids freak out at the circus.
“The Joker” of Gotham City isn’t clowning around…heath ledger is darker in this movie than ‘the dark knight’ himself. The late actor’s brilliant work earned him a posthumous Oscar.
There’s the traditional scary villain and then there’s the ordinary guy who goes completely insane…Jack Nicholson is terrifically terrifying in ‘the shining.’
But Hannibal Lecter takes the cake – make that the Chianti…
As manipulative as he is grotesque, “Hannibal the Cannibal” scared the daylights out of us, and earned Anthony Hopkins an Oscar, along with the honor of playing him again and again in “red dragon” and “Hannibal.”
