What do you do after you win Bravo’s Top Design? If you’re Matt Lorenz, you design a chic Chicago Valuation Center for Luxe Life Auctions, the online auction house for new and vintage luxury items. The sleek new space offers a face-to-face experience for sellers and buyers including item assessments and an Internet bar for online merchandise browsing.
Lorenz showed off his new spot at a kick off cocktail party, which included online auction demonstrations for invited guests.
“I wanted an opportunity to transform the space and leave everything simple and neutral,” the style guru told CelebTV. “Everything needed to be multifunctional. Visitors could come and look up items online, then later you could throw an event,” Lorenz expressed.
The evening also featured paintings from artists the simplistic designer helped hand pick.
“I knew the space had to also function as an art gallery,” Matt said. Luxe Life Auctions is planning to use the space to showcase different artists and auction off their work.
So why was the former Bravo star’s design ideas perfect for this challenge?
“Simplicity and luxury go together,” Lorenz said.
The president of Luxe Life Auctions, Lisa Ackerman couldn’t have been happier with her choice in Matt. “What really impressed me about Matt was he challenged my initial vision of the space in the most wonderful way.”
So what’s the Top Designer’s one luxury item he can’t live with out? “I love drinking out of crystal glassware,” Lorenz said. “It’s something that’s simple but I feel better drinking out of a crystal glass.” Cheers, Matt!
